Visual Analysis Of The Old Shoe.

Be a "shoe detective."

OBSERVATION POTENTIAL EXPLANATION
pressure points mismating of shoe and foot
curling up of the toes too long
runover of heel and counter shoe too narrow or excessive pronation
runover of forepart improper width, excessive pronation, mismating of shoe and foot
wearing at inside roof of toe box hammer toe, not enough space, too short
sock lining fraying of quarters excessive movement or perspiration
flattened or depressed shank dropped metatarsals
vamp creasing shoe too long or too short
vamp stretching shoe too tight
hole or fraying of upper at ball shoe too tight
toe guard peeling off shoe too short
inner quarter gaping (torsion) excessive pronation
outsole wear
even normal gait
extreme difference at heel asymmetrical legs
behind 1st metatarsal excessive pronation
"depressed" center abnormally flat feet
heel and toe only high arches
outer portion of forefoot supination
little heel wear forefoot striker
scuffs on medial side of shoe kicking by other shoe
heels lean inward excessive pronation
midsole crushed excessive pronation
shoe odors excessive perspiration, not changing sock liners or using proper socks
eyelets overlapping shoe too wide
