In this movie the psychiatrist tells Bob that what he needs to do is utilize baby steps. In other words, dont become overwhelmed by the total picture. Concentrate on what needs to be done first. Do it. Then go to the next step. Many years ago I remember my father driving down to Lake Williamstown in Kentucky for seven years to construct a summer cottage. Eventually the structure was built, and our family enjoyed many delightful times together
He told me that he knew what he wanted as an end result, but if he had dwelt on the enormity of the total task, he wondered if he would have had the endurance to persevere. However, taking it step by step eventually provided our family a wonderful place for us to visit when I was younger.
Our walking and running is similar. We set smaller attainable goals for ourselves. As we adapted to and accomplished them, we moved on. This approach helps us accomplish feats we perhaps never imagined possible.
With apologies to Thane Maynard and the 90 Second Naturalist I am going to spend a brief amount of time talking about a couple of types of birds. There was a book that was popular in the early 70s. The name of it was Jonathan Livingston Seagull. All the other seagulls placed limits on Jonathan. They told him what he could not do. Well, he did not listen to them and he accomplished things that no seagull had ever done. He went further. He went higher.
Another type of bird is the gonna bird. This creature says that it is gonna do this or it is gonna do that. Do you know what? Gonna birds dont fly.
Which bird are you like?
